4th of July Study

Celebrate Independence Day with this 4th of July Study! This program is a great way to encourage nutrition education, cooking, reading and crafting all with a patriotic theme! Red, white and blue are not only patriotic colors to celebrate America, they also have amazing health benefits when found naturally in many plant-based foods! When you eat a juicy red apple, munch on crisp blue blueberries or dip your carrots into creamy white hummus made from garbanzo beans, you’re nourishing your body! Let’s learn about the health benefits of these colors, how they occur in our food, a list of red, white and blue foods and so much more in our new 4th of July Study!

I recommend starting this program 2-3 weeks before the 4th of July and reading books from the book list, making recipes and trying out the different crafts leading up the the holiday. However, this program is completely flexible and you can simply pick and choose what books, recipes and crafts you want to implement. I highly encourage reading the Nutrition Study with your child or children more than once, and to continue the conversation about the health benefits of red, white and blue foods at your meal times!
