6 Tips To Relieve Congestion

| |

Hi Friends! Welcome back to Healthy Grocery Girl! It is equally my favorite and not-so-favorite time of year… The Holiday Season which is full of festive fun and then… cold and flu season! I have some great videos and blog posts on how to support your immune health naturally, which I’ll link below in the video description box!

Today I’m sharing 6 Tips To Relieve Congestion. While having congestion when you’re sick is no fun, some people are prone to congestion year round! It can affect taste, smell and sometimes sleep. When Native Remedies reached out for us to try some of their products I was really excited specifically to see what my husband thought because he struggles with congestion! So not only will I be sharing foods to eat and simple remedies for, my husband will be sharing his experience trying out different natural congestion relief products! Let’s get started!

There is a lot you can do naturally to help maintain clear and open sinuses and promote better breathing!

Hot Liquids

Drink hot liquids such as herbal tea or broth to moisten airways and help break up mucus. Aim to drink at least eight ounces of water to stay hydrated!

Spicy Food

Eat Spicy Foods which can help loosen mucus and avoid Dairy products, meat, or fried foods that can increase mucus production.

Humidifier

Use a humidifier at night to help moisten the air we breathe in. This is helpful during winter months when the indoor air is dry and you’re running the heat often.

Natural Relief

Sometimes we need a little extra help! I always search for natural products to provide relief if available and effective! The 3 different products Aaron tried from Native Remedies for congestion relief are the Mucus-Clear™ for Phlegm & Congestion, AllergiClear-S™ & InstaClear Sinus Relief™ for Sinus Comfort. Here’s a little bit about each product and I’ve linked each product below if you’d like to learn more!

It can helps reduce vocal cord strain, reduce the need for frequent throat-clearing, promotes natural de-congestion and supports respiratory health.

Eucalyptus

In a humidifier or vaporizer, add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil to a diffuser to help loosen phlegm and soothe mucus membranes. This oil is great to diffuse and blends well lavender, lemon, and cedarwood. Not all oils are created equal. Native Remedies Eucalyptus oil is a great choice because it’s 100% pure, Sustainably harvested, Quality tested and made in GMP-certified facilities, Inspected by organoleptic methods and each batch of oil is physically inspected by hand for color, clarity, and viscosity.

Another option is to Inhale steam from the shower or from a pot of boiling water to help loosen mucus. You can also hang eucalyptus in the shower and then breathe in the eucalyptus infused steam from the shower!

Ginger & Lemons

Ginger contains anti-inflammatory properties that may relieve swollen nasal membranes and relieve nasal pressure! Lemons are antiviral, antibacterial and are packed with immune boosting vitamin C! Vitamin C is essential for getting rid of the bacteria forming in mucus.  Add a few slices of fresh ginger and a squeeze of lemon juice into hot water for a nourishing beverage. Add a little bit of honey and an extra antibacterial boost!
