3 Must-Try Refreshing Summer Drinks!

| | | | |

Welcome back to Healthy Grocery Girl! When it’s a hot summer day, I love a refreshing drink to sip on! It helps beat the heat, hydrate and tastes great! Today I’m sharing 3 summer drinks all made with simple, real ingredients and sweetened naturally with one of my favorite sweeteners, maple syrup. I’ve been using maple syrup as sweetener in my recipes for over a decade, I love the flavor, nutritional boost and versatility of it! A big thanks to Maple from Canada for sponsoring today’s video and now let’s get to our recipes!

Health Benefits of Pure Maple Syrup!

Maple syrup is a great option to naturally sweeten your recipes because not only does it provide sweetness, it also contains a variety of nutrients whereas traditional cane sugar for example, has no nutritional value.

100% pure maple syrup from Canada is a natural sweetener that is derived directly from the maple tree’s sap that, when consumed in moderation, can be part of a healthy diet.

Maple Syrup Nutrition 101

It is an excellent source of manganese and a good source of riboflavin. Pure maple syrup is also a source of calcium, thiamin, potassium, and copper.

One serving of pure maple syrup (2 tablespoons) contains 35% of the Daily Value of Manganese and 15% for Riboflavin.

Scientists have also identified more than 67 different plant compounds, or polyphenols, nine of which are unique to pure maple syrup. One of these polyphenols, named Quebecol, naturally forms when the sap is boiled to produce maple syrup.

Let’s Get To Our Recipes!!

Two glasses with strawberry blended beverage and fruit garnish

Strawberry Margarita Mocktail

This recipe can be made as a mocktail or a cocktail if you’d like to add alcohol. The ginger infused maple syrup is really what makes this so special and you can save any extra syrup for topping on pancakes, waffles or add into baked treats!

Prep Time:5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fresh strawberries tops removed
  • 1 lime juiced
  • ½ navel orange juiced
  • 2 tablespoons ginger infused pure maple syrup from Canada
  • 2 cups ice

Ginger Infused Maple Syrup

  • 1 cup pure maple syrup from Canada
  • 1 inch fresh ginger peeled and sliced

Instructions

  • To make ginger infused maple syrup simply add 1 cup maple syrup and sliced fresh ginger to a small saucepan on medium/low heat.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes then turn off the heat and let steep for 15 minutes.
  • This makes more syrup than you need for the Margarita Mocktail, so make sure to save and use for other recipes!
  • Add strawberries, ginger, lime juice, orange juice and maple syrup to a blender; blend on high until smooth.
  • Let sit for 3 minutes, the mixture will separate and then you can skim the foam from the top.
  • Add ice to each glass, fill with your Maple Strawberry Margarita Mocktail and garnish with fresh strawberry, lime & orange slices.

Notes

To make this a traditional cocktail, simply omit the orange juice and add 2 ounces silver tequila and 1 ounce Cointreau or Triple Sec (or any orange liqueur).
