Why Eat Organic?

Have you ever wondered, “Why should I eat Organic? Is it better for me, it is better for the environment, will the food taste better?” I am happy to answer all of these questions in a special video I have created in partnership with the company Surf Sweets.  Surf Sweets creates Organic and NON-GMO Project Verified treats that help make life a little sweeter!

Sure it’s important that our daily meals and snacks are abundant in fresh produce, grains, nuts, seeds and beans, all of these plant-based foods nourish our body. However the truth is, having a treat once in a while is okay! Being healthy is not about deprivation or strict dieting. Being healthy is about being kind to ourselves, staying active and choosing real ingredients, and that means it’s okay to have a treat once in a while!

Surf Sweets is doing it right, their treats contain no artificial sweeteners, artificial colors or artificial flavors and are corn-syrup free! Choosing corn-syrup free candies and treats is important because nifty-four percent of corn in American is Genetically Modified. By choosing organic you naturally avoid GMOs.

Why Eat Organic?

Organic is Better For You

By choosing Organic foods you will avoid preservatives, pesticides, synthetic hormones and artificial ingredients. All of these additives and chemicals in non-organic foods can really take a toll on your health. By choosing Organic, you avoid harmful ingredients and only consume real ingredients.

Organic is More Nutrient Dense

Organic foods can be higher in nutritional value because organic farmers nourish the soil that feeds our food.

Organic is Better for the Environment

Organic is better for the environment because farmers are not adding more chemicals into the ground, air or water systems.

Organic is Better Tasting

It’s a myth that healthier choices do not taste a good as conventional and processed foods. For example, Surf Sweets are Organic treats yet they taste amazing. You taste real ingredients when take a bite, not chemicals. Once you start eating real foods more frequently, you will notice this difference and your taste buds will be excited! Try it if you don’t believe me!

Organic Can Be Affordable and Realistic: Eating Organic can be apart of an affordable lifestyle. Stock up on fresh whole foods, mostly plants and shop local and seasonal. Organic meat, poultry, fish and dairy such as yogurt, milk and cheese, are the most expensive organic items you can buy. To afford organic, reduce your intake of animal products and boost your intake of organic plant-based foods and you will notice that eating “healthy” is actually affordable, realistic and delicious! Remember, you don’t have to make drastic changes overnight. Start with small changes and continue to make progress (not perfection) apart of your daily healthy lifestyle, and don’t forget to treat yourself once in a while!
